LAYYAH: A man after killing his five children including four girls and a boy committed suicide here in a village of Chowk Azam on late Wednesday night, ARY News reported.
Tariq Mehmood, 30-year-old father of five children, poisoned his five children and himself to death over prolonged domestic issues.
According to police, the deceased was facing domestic problems for long time that also led separation between him and his wife a year ago. The deceased was also said to have disputes with family members over the issue of looking after the children.
Hospital sources confirmed that the death to all children along with the father was caused by a poisonous substance.
According to police officials, the deceased committed suicide preceding night after killing his children. The children died immediately, they were all between the age of four to twelve including one boy and four girls, police sources added.
Hassan, brother of the deceased, apprised the police officials that around 5 AM he found the children in an unconscious condition while his brother was vomiting. They were first rushed to a nearby hospital where the doctor pronounced the children dead while Tariq’s condition was critical.
He was later shifted to Nishtar Hospital in Multan where he died during treatment.
In light of initial investigation, the police said that the it apparently seemed that the deceased has committed suicide after killing his children.
The children were identified as Tayyaba (15 year old), Tanzeela (12 year old), Shanza (seven year old), Saba (six year old) and a four-year-old boy Tayyab.
Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has taken the notice of the incident and ordered concerned authorities to send him a report of the incident.
