Let us enter Islamabad, we do not want run-in with govt, clarifies Khattak

PESHAWAR: Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Pervez Khattak said on Monday that the government was distancing his province from the capital by blocking roads, an act certainly against the principles of democracy.

Meanwhile, security arrangements along the Peshawar Motorway and Grand Trunk Road have been ramped up today in anticipation of a group of Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) protesters marching from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to Islamabad on Monday.

Speaking to ARY News before leaving for the capital along with PTI members and supporters, Khattak said people of Pakistan were given an opportunity to get on to the roads for their rights and warned that if anyone tried to harm any PTI activist, he would take the federal government to the court.

“Why the government was creating hurdles for us?,” the provincial chief minister asked the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) government in the centre.

He clarified and warned that PTI was not willing to engage in a dispute with the government but if they tried to stop us, they would see a strong reaction.

Addressing a huge gathering of PTI supporters in Manki Sharif on Sunday, Khattak said the Islamabad and Punjab police could not stop the ‘tsunami’ of PTI workers from marching on the federal capital on Monday from KPK.

He had also threatened to stop Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif from entering KPK to address public meetings if his cavalcade was barred from entering Punjab for the PTI’s protest planned for November 2.
