Asia Cup T20: Akmal, Sarfraz take Pakistan home in dead rubber against Sri Lanka

Pakistan won the toss and opted to field in the match.Batting first, the island-nation posted 150/4 in their 20 overs.

Sri Lanka were cruising at 110 on the board on the first wicket when Chandimal was dismissed caught out from the bowling of Wahab Riaz after making 58 runs from 49 balls with seven fours and a six.

Shehan Jayasuriya was the next man to be dismissed as he was caught at the boundary after contributing with the bat from Shoaib Malik’s bowling.

Mohammad Irfan got the back-to-back wickets of Chamara Kapugedara and Dasun Shanaka in the 18th over.

Tillakaratne Dilshan remained unbeaten at 75 runs from 56 balls with the help of 10 boundaries and a maximum.

Pakistan, chasing 151 runs to win, lost their first wicket with 23 runs on the scoreboard as Mohammad Hafeez was caught and bowled from the bowling of Shehan Jayasuriya after scoring 14 runs from 11 balls with three boundaries to his name.

Dilshan reduced Pakistan to 58/2 after getting Sharjeel Khan caught by Kapugedara as the opener contributed 31 runs from 24 balls with the help of five fours and a six.

Sarfraz Ahmed and Umar Akmal then put up a 36-run partnership on the third wicket for Pakistan before the wicket keeper batsmen was trapped leg before after scoring 27-ball 38 runs with six boundaries.

The 56-run partnership between Umar Akmal and Shoaib Malik was broken by Nuwan Kulasekara as Akmal was brilliantly caught by Thisara Parera after making 48 runs with four fours and two sixes.

Umar Akmal was named Man of the Match.
