Zimbabwe beats Pakistan by five runs in rain-hit 2nd ODI

Pakistan won the toss and opted to field first in the match.

The hosts scored 276/6 in their alloted 50 overs. Chamu Chibhabha was the top scorer for the team with 90 runs from 125 balls while skipper Elton Chigumbura made 67 runs from 55 balls.

Brian Chari and Sikandar Raza also contributed 39 and 32 runs respectively for their side.

Wahab Riaz took four wickets for Pakistan while Aamer Yamin and Mohammad Irfan grabbed one wicket each.

In reply, Pakistan scored 256/8 before the umpires decided to suspend play due to light issues after the 48th over. The Zimbabwe players were complaining of visibility issues after rain interrupted.

Shoaib Malik remained unbeaten at 96 runs while Yasir Shah was also not out at 32 runs. The pair had nearly taken Pakistan to a tremendous win.

Malik and Aamer Yamin, who scored 62 runs for the side, put up 111 run partnership for Pakistan.

Pakistan’s top order did not manage to score many runs. Debutante Bilal Asif was out on a duck while captain Azhar Ali was back in the pavilion after making just one run for his side.

Asad Shafiq, who was brought into the playing XI, also scored just one run.

The three-match series is now tied at 1-1. The third and final match of the series will be played at Harare on Monday.
