Lieutenant General Rizwan Akhtar has recently served as Director General Rangers Sindh during the operation launched against criminals in Karachi.
Director General Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) Maj. Gen. Asim Saleem Bajwa in a tweet announced the promotions and new postings of the six promoted Army officials.
Lt. General Rizwan Akhtar has been named as the new Director General of the Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI). Rizwan Akhtar will replace incumbent ISI chief Lt. Gen. Zaheerul Islam.
Other five Major Generals who have been
promoted to the rank of Lieutenant General are Lt. General Nazir Butt who has been named as the new I.G. C&IT, Lt. General Naveed Mukhtar has been posted as Corps Commander Karachi, Lt. General Hilal Hussain will assume the charge as Corps Commander Mangla, Lt. General Ghayyur Mehmood will become Corps Commander Gujranwala and Lt. General Hidayatur Rehman will become the Commander of Peshawar Corps.
The promoted Lt. Generals will assume their new charges after the retirement of their predecessors.
