Lt General Rizwan Akhtar assumes ISI charge

Former ISI chief Lt. General Zaheerul Islam was retired on completion of his tenure yesterday.

Lt. Gen. Rizwan Akhtar before assuming the charge of the chief of Pakistan’s prime intelligence agency headed an operation against criminals in the port city of Karachi as Director General Rangers Sindh.

According to official sources, the new ISI chief will be given a policy briefing on the first day of his tenure (today).

The new DG-ISI will be introduced with the heads of various sections of the agency. He will also be given briefings about the ongoing operations at various fronts, officials added.
