Lucman files appeal against IHC verdict on him

ISLAMABAD: ARY News’ senior anchorperson, Mubashir Lucman has filed an appeal in the Supreme Court (SC) against the decision of Islamabad High Court (IHC), which stopped him from participating in any program as an anchorperson – ARY News reports.

Mubashir Lucman took the stance in his appeal that the IHC decision is one-sided and biased, while the court also did not inform about any reasons for such a verdict.

He stated that the court did not even listen to him and ordered PEMRA to stop him from hosting any program.

Lucman further told that IHC verdict is similar to limiting PEMRA’s authority.

The senior anchorperson told that PEMRA is bound of reviewing any petition filed against a TV channel, program or a host, whereas the high court does not have the authority to hear this case directly.

Mubashir Lucman stated in his appeal that an action should be taken against the IHC judge for violating the rules and to declare the verdict null and void for being in contrast with the articles 2A, 10A and 33 of the constitution of Pakistan.
