Lyceum School defeats FPS to clinch Karachi United Schools Championship 2015-16

According to a press release, the match went to penalty kicks following a goalless draw after extra time. FPS had no answer to Lyceum’s goalkeeper, Abdullah Yousuf, who pulled off three remarkable saves in the penalty shoot-out to start the celebrations.

The Lyceum School had arrived in the final by defeating the Sensorium School 2-1 in the semi-final, while FPS had pulled of a surprise win over favorites and previous champions, Nixor College 3-1.

The Lyceum School could not however replicate their success in the KUSC Girls event, in which Karachi Grammar School comprehensively beat the Lyceum School in the final 3-0, with a hat-trick from the best player of the tournament, Soha Hirani.

The top goal scorers of the KUSC were Abbas Zaqi from FPS and Abdullah Chipa from Nixor College with six goals each whereas the best player award was collected by Sharez Taqi from the Lyceum School.

Arshad Jamal, Lyceum’s coach, was the winner of the best coach of the tournament award.

A total of 32 school and college teams participated in the KUSC this year, and the matches were played all across Karachi, according to the press release.
