Man killed in landmine blast in Balochistan’s Kohlu district

KOHLU: A man was killed while another wounded in a landmine blast in Balochistan’s Kohlu district on Sunday, ARY News reported.

Security sources said a landmine exploded in Chappi Kach area of Kahan tehsil when a motorcycle ran over it. As a result, a motorcycle rider died on the spot while another sustained injuries, they added.

Security officials said the dead body and injured have been shifted to a nearby hospital where the injured is said to be out of danger.

Following the incident, a contingent of security forces reached the site of the blast and cordoned it off for security purposes. They also launched a search operation in the adjoining areas to arrest culprits.

A day earlier, a levies man was killed in an armed attack on a check post in a neighbourhood of Sibi district in Balochistan province.

Security officials said unknown assailants opened fire at the check post near Sibi’s Mill Chowk area and fled from the scene. As a result, the personnel received serious bullet injuries and died on the spot, they added.

Earlier this week, at least seven policemen were martyred and 22 others injured in a car bombing on Sibi Road within the jurisdiction of Sariab Road police station of Balochistan’s capital city Quetta.
