A man was arrested by Indian police officials for allegedly murdering a seven-year-old neighbour in India’s Kolkata state over the ‘advice’ of a Tantrik.
According to the police officials, a man named Alok Kumar confessed that to fulfil his desire to have a child, he killed the minor on the advice of a Tantrik.
In the statement, the accused said he met a Tantrik in Bihar a few months ago. The Tantrik instructed him to sacrifice a minor by Navratri – an annual Hindu festival observed in honour of the goddess – if he wished to have a biological child.
Following the instructions of the Tantrik, Alok Kumar allegedly abducted the minor from his neighbourhood, took her to his flat and strangulated her to death. Later, her body was found stuffed inside a sack from the neighbour’s flat.
The cops said that the minor had a head injury caused probably by one end of a hammer. She also had injuries in her genitalia.
Police have said that the statement the accused gave is being investigated, adding that the Tantrik would be arrested soon if the accused’s claims turn out to be true.
