KARACHI: A man who was observing a hunger strike till death seeking an extension in the tenure of now former Army Chief General Raheel Sharif, has died.
Lutuf Ameen Shibli was protesting outside the Karachi Press Club since the last three weeks and was observing hunger strike.
Shibli, who was an ardent and die-hard supporter of the former Army Chief, had said that Gen. Raheel has rendered tremendous services for the nation including action against terrorism and corruption and he should be given an extension in his tenure.
Shibli had claimed that if General Raheel will not be given extension, he will die.
General Raheel Sharif stepped down from the position of Chief of Army Staff on November 29, and handed over command to General Qamar Javed Bajwa.
Since then, the situation of Shibli worsened after which he was admitted to a private hospital where he passed away.
His family had returned to the Karachi Press Club and vowed to continue his mission.
His eight-year-old son said “I would like to become General Raheel Sharif when I grow up.”
The family members of Shibli have confirmed his death. His funeral prayers will be offered on Thursday after Zuhr prayers outside the Karachi Press Club.
