ISLAMABAD: Deploring Nawaz Sharif’s ouster, Minister of State for Information Marriyum Aurangzeb on Friday said that the country is yet to witness an elected Prime Minister to complete a five-year mandated term, ARY News reported.
Addressing a ceremony here ahead of 70th Independence day, Marriyum lamented that parliament has remained insecure as an institution throughout the country’s 70-year long history. “It’s unfortunate that not a single elected prime minister could complete the mandated tenure,” Marriyum Aurangzeb said.
Calling for respecting the parliament, the state minister said a true democratic society demands respect of peoples’ mandate.
“It is a matter of concern to ponder the dissolution of elected assemblies time and again since the creation of country,” Marriyum Aurangzeb asserted.
She said the country achieved developmental goals and moved ahead in all spheres of life during the tenure of democratic governments.
Reiterating there is no charge of corruption against Sharif, she further said that her party wants rule of masses through democracy.
