Maulana Fazl excuses himself on role as mediator with MQM

The JUI-F chief conveyed this to the PM and said he failed to convince the MQM on withdrawing its resignations from assemblies.

Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif had tasked Maulana Fazl with persuading MQM to take back its resignations after differences with the government over Rangers operation in Karachi. The JUI-F head had also visited MQM headquarters Nine Zero in Karachi to hammer out the issue.

Fazl told the PM he could no longer continue as mediator. He also expressed his wish for early resolution of the problem.

He said he was leaving to perform Hajj, hence “decided to tell the prime minister about his stance.”

MQM had just recently backed out of negotiations with the government over resignations issue, saying federal government was neither paying heed to its concerns nor taking steps to provide justice to the party.
