Met Office forecast rainfall in Balochistan from tonight

ISLAMABAD: The Met Office has informed that a westerly wave will likely to enter Balochistan on Saturday night and to grip other parts of the country on Sunday, ARY News reported.

The weather department has predicted widespread rain and thunderstorm and snowfalls over the hills accompanied by gusty winds in Balochistan from Saturday night to Sunday, while at scattered places in Sindh’s Sukkur, Larkana, Shaheed Benazirabad and Hyderabad divisions, while at isolated places in Karachi division on Sunday.

Widespread rain-thunderstorm and snowfalls over the hills is also expected in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Punjab, Islamabad, Gilgit Baltistan and Kashmir from Sunday to Monday.

The weather office has also warned of flash flooding in local nullah and riverine in Quetta, Zhob, Sibbi and Kalat divisions on Sunday and may trigger landslides in Malakand, Hazara divisions, Gilgit Baltistan and Kashmir on Monday in case of heavy falls.

The weather advisory has warned concerned authorities to remain alert and take precautionary measures during the period.

Balochistan’s Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) in its rain alert advised officials in Makran, Kalat, Quetta, Sibi, Rakhshan and Zhob divisions of the province to remain alert during the fresh rain spell beginning in the province from tonight.

While advising citizens to avoid the path of the flood-streams and living in the low lying areas, the PDMA has also warned against unnecessary travel.

In case of any untoward situation, citizens should contact the control room of the PDMA, the statement added.
