‘Missing’ bride tied the knot with ex-fiancé: police

KARACHI: A case of a missing bride in Karachi saw a dramatic yet concluding turn when the police claimed today that the girl who went missing from outside a beauty parlour tied the knot with her former fiancé.

According to police, the revelations came to light during the investigation. SHO Taimuria Police Station confirmed that the girl and the boy entered a marital contract (nikkah) when they fled together.

Police said the couple got hitched in the court.

Another senior police official said the couple needed to produce their marital certificate (nikkah nama) otherwise they could be arrested.

The case was registered on behalf of the missing girl’s brother at the police station.

It all started last night when a woman, who arrived at a local beauty salon to get ready for her wedding function, went missing soon after she left for home.

The bride’s parents initially said she went to the beauty parlour with her sister in North Nazimabad area to get ready for one of her wedding functions, but she was allegedly kidnapped by her former fiancé. The girl was set to tie the knot on Sep 30.

Police said their initial probe revealed that the girl and the man were in contact before the former went missing from outside the beauty salon. The law enforcers also briefly interrogated the parlour administration, however no substantial clue could be found.
