KARACHI: The Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal (MMA), an alliance of religio-political parties, has announced its candidates for 21 seats of National Assembly and 44 seats of provincial assembly from Karachi for coming general elections.
The MMA has fielded Hafiz Naeemur Rehman in NA-250, Asadullah Bhutto in NA-242, Maulana Noorul Haq in NA-246, Qari Usman in NA-248, Dr Mairajul Huda in NA-256, Muhammad Islam for NA-237, Muhammad Islam in NA-238, Muhammad Haleem Khan Ghauri in NA-239 and Abdul Jamil Khan in NA-240, to name but a few.
Among the candidates nominated for provincial assembly seats are Hafiz Hamdullah Haqqani, Qari Muhammad Usman, Hafiz Naeemur Rehman, and Muhammad Siddiq Rathore, who are running for PS-87, PS-114, for PS-115, PS-127, respectively.
Earlier, Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam Fazl (JUI-F) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman, who heads the MMA, had announced its election manifesto.
Reading out the manifesto
from a paper during a press conference, Fazlur Rehman said education, employment, sports, voluntaryism and measures to build self-confidence in youth, formulation of national policies and youth’s encouragement in their implementation were included in their manifesto.
Other many things included in the manifesto of the party were announced to be, “Announcement of revolutionary schemes for employment and education of women in the light of the Islamic traditions and constitution of Pakistan, eradication of exploitation of women and inequality in the society, implementation of clear orders of Quran and Sunnah and eradication of interest (sood) in shortest possible time.
“Encouragement of participation of Pakistani expatriates in development of Pakistan, protection of assets of the country, full encouragement of investment in the country, full protection of minorities’ life, properties and worshipping places and complete assurance of education and other civil rights.”
