Model Town case: LHC rejects petition of federal ministers

According to details, Justice Mehmood Maqbool Bajwa conducted the hearing of the case, during which the counsel of the federal ministers took the stance that Minhaj ul Quran administration instead of becoming part of the investigation of JIT and recording statement before the Model Town judicial commission, directly approached the police for the registration of a case against 21 suspects including the prime minister and the chief minister.

To which, Mihaj ul Quran’s lawyer, Mansoor Afridi argued that in the presence of concrete evidence, eye-witnesses and relatives of the Model Town victims, there is no significance of the FIR registered by the police.

At this, the LHC remarked that the federal ministers could not provide solid legal justification. The court while rejecting the petitions of the federal ministers, upheld the decision of the sessions court.

Earlier, some of the federal ministers had filed petition in the LHC, against the decision of the sessions court on Model Town incident.
