Modern technology inevitable for agricultural development: PM Imran

ISLMABAD: Prime Minister Imran Khan on Monday declared modern technology inevitable for agriculture development in the country.

Chairing a high-level meeting in Islamabad, PM Imran Khan stressed upon the need to introduce new machinery and technologies to boost the agriculture sector in the country.

He said that the government will facilitate the farmers and will fulfill their requirements on the priority basis and added that they will have to take benefit from China’s expertise in the agriculture sector.

The prime minister said that restoration of agriculture is the part of PTI manifesto and added that progress in agriculture will eventually strengthen the economy.

Government policy on agriculture, new projects, current situation and other agriculture related issues were came under discussion in the meeting.

Federal Minister for National Food Security and Research Sahibzada Muhammad Mehboob Sultan agriculture’s experts and other high officials were present in the meeting.

It is pertinent to mention here that Federal Minister for Finance Asad Umer on December 9, had declared the agriculture sector back bone of the country and added that the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insa (PTI) government is focusing to promote the sector.

Talking to journalists, Asad Umer had said that the government is taking concrete measure to facilitate farmers to encourage farming. The minister said that power and fertilizer is being provided to farmers at subsidized rates.
