ISLAMABAD: More candidates, who won in the recently held general elections, have joined the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) after meeting the party chief Imran Khan at Bani Gala, ARY News reported.

PTI leader Jahangir Tareen has convinced two more independent candidates to join the PTI as his campaign to bring candidates in the PTI enters its final phase. Former chief minister Sindh Ali Mohammed Mehr from Ghotki (NA-205) and Shabbir Ali Qureshi from Muzaffar Garh have expressed confidence in Imran’s leadership and announced to join his party.

Following a meeting with Imran, MPA-elect Alamdar Qureshi from PP-277 constituency has announced to join the PTI.

Separately, Jahangir telephoned President Jamhoori Watan Party Nawabzada Shahzain Bugti and set up a meeting in Islamabad, where the latter would announce support for the PTI. The JWP has bagged one National Assembly seat and one provincial assembly seat.

Another independent candidate from NA-190 consituency, Mohammed Amjad Farooq has also joined hands with the party, which emerged out to be the largest political party in the General Elections 2018.

Earlier, another member of provincial assembly from Punjab joined Imran Khan’s party who won as an independent candidate on PP-83 seat.

The PTI has reached a simple majority with 173 seats in the lower house of the parliament with the support of independent members and small coalition partners and is in a comfortable position to form the government.

Moreover, cricketer-turned politician Imran Khan’s party claims to have secured 157 seats in the Punjab Assembly to comfortably form the provincial government in the province.
