Architecture of any country is the reflection of its civilization. In Pakistan, we also have some phenomenal buildings that are the landmarks of the country.
Here’s the list of iconic buildings:
Mohatta Palace
The combination of pink stone from Jodhpur and yellow stone from Gizri makes Mohatta Palace one of the most unique building of Karachi. Mohatta Palace is also one of the oldest buildings of the city. The aesthetic style of Indo-Pak revival architecture was built by Shivratan Chandraratan Mohatta, a Rajithani businessman in 1927. After partition Quaid-e-Azam’s sister Fatima Jinnah moved here and in 1995 it was converted into a Museum by Government of Sindh.
Badshahi Mosque
The historical mosque was built by Mughal Emperor Aurangzeb in 1673 in Lahore. It is the landmark of Lahore which attracts the tourist for its Mughal architecture.
Frere Hall
Considered as one of the most iconic buildings of Karachi, Frere Hall dates from the early British colonial-era in Sindh. Completed in 1865, Frere Hall was originally intended to serve as Karachi’s town hall, and now serves as space for cultural and social activities.
Faisal Mosque
Faisal Mosque of Islamabad completed in 1986 is one of the most beautiful and national mosque of Pakistan. The construction of the mosque started in 1966, when King Faisal of Saudi Arabia supported the Pakistani government’s initiative to build a national mosque. The mosque was designed by Turkish architect Vedat Dalokay.
Pakistan Monument
The construction of Pakistan monument started in 2004 and it took three years to be completed. This monument is a symbolic representation of four province of the country. The national monument is located in Shakarparian. The structure comprises of four metals that are embellished with murals.
Quaid-e-Azam Mausoleum
The mausoleum of the founder of Pakistan is without any doubts, the most aesthetic architecture of the country. Mazar-e-Quaid is the last resting place of Quaid-e-Azam situated in Karachi and a true iconic representation of the city of lights. This mausoleum made of white marbles was designed by famous architect by Yahya Merchant.
Minar-e-Pakistan
Minar-e-Pakistan is the most famous public monument of Pakistan located in Iqbal Park Lahore. The construction of Mine-e-Pakistan started in 1960 and took eight years to be completed. The Minar has a significant historical background as the Pakistan Resolution was passed at this place in 1940.The tower was designed by an architect from Dagestan Nasreen Murat Khan.
Habib Bank Plaza
Habib Bank Plaza once the tallest building of Pakistan was established in 1963. The fine architecture of the building was designed by a famous international architecture Leo A Daly.
Aga Khan University and Hospital
The Aga Khan University Hospital is another beautiful building of Pakistan. This building that heals is designed by Payette Associates. The building was completed in 1985 and it is a marvel of traditional Indo-Persian and Mughal architecture.
Saint Patrick Cathedral
Saint Patrick Cathedral is one of the prominent churches in Pakistan. It’s located near Karachi’s historical Empress Market. The cathedral is built in Gothic Revival architecture; it has the capacity to accommodate at least 1,500 worshippers at the same time. The design of the cathedral was conceived by the architect Father Karl Wagner, SJ and the construction was supervised by the lay Brothers George Kluver, SJ and Herman Lau, SJ
