Motion calling for probe into theft of bank’s data moved in Punjab Assembly

LAHORE: A resolution calling for investigation into theft of account holders’ data of the customers of Bank of Punjab, submitted in Punjab Assembly on Tuesday.

The resolution demanded of the provincial government to ask the centre for inquiry into theft of  bank account data so as to protect masses from big loss.

The resolution was submitted by Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) legislator Aneeza Fatima. She said in the resolution that data of 48,000 customers of Bank of Punjab was hacked, including those who had written-off loans or took huge debt.

The Federal Investigation Agency, on March 7, had claimed to have arrested at least four hackers for siphoning off money from people’s bank accounts after managing to get their credit cards’  pin code.

FIA cyber crime wing, on tip off, had conducted raids in Shekhupur, Nankana Sahib, Pir Mahal and Jhang and took the fraudsters into custody.

The FIA officials said that the suspects were associated with the bank fraudsters of South Africa, Dubai and Saudi Arabia.
