MQM delegates participate in sit-in against ARY News closure

KARACHI: A delegation of Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) participated in the protest sit-in outside PEMRA office in Karachi, to express solidarity with ARY News on the issue of an unjust ban imposed by PEMRA – ARY News reports.

While addressing the protesters on this occasion, MQM leaders Haider Abbas Rizvi and Ameen ul Haq said that PEMRA’s decision against ARY News is based on victimization.

Apart from journalists, representatives of trade unions and business fraternity also visited the protest site. Renowned businessman, Aqeel Karim Dhedhi warned that putting a ban on ARY News can be harmful for the Government itself.

Sunni Ittehad Council (SIC) leader, Faisal Azizi said that evil motives are being pursued by suspending ARY News.

Moreover, the participants at the sit-in said that the concept of a strong democracy is not possible without the freedom of media.
