Musharraf cannot escape trial in high treason case, says Nawaz

ISLAMABAD: Former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has said that sooner or later, the trial against Pervez Musharraf will conclude and he will not be able to get out of the high treason case.

Talking to media persons on Friday, before the Accountability Court hearing of corruption references against him, Nawaz Sharif said that Imran Khan had cursed the parliament but still he enjoyed all perks of the membership of this institution.

Talking on the case against Pervez Musharraf about violation of the constitution, Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) supreme leader said that the trial will complete sooner or later, Musharraf can not get out of this case. “It is a high treason case and there is no legal option that stops this case or ensure withdrawal of charges against him.”

Former Prime Minister said that it is an open-and-shut case, due to which he is staying out of Pakistan. He said an elected leader has faced 70 court hearings so far, while the dictator has been on a run.

He said, Musharraf waved his fist to show his power, after May 12th, 2007 violent incidents in Karachi, “Where has that fist goes now?, he asked. “He should hit that fist on his face instead of sitting cowardly out ofthe country,” Nawaz Sharif added.

Beleaguered former Prime Minister on Wednesday had claimed that the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) references against him are a byproduct of filing a high treason case against former military dictator Pervez Musharraf.
