‘Mystery Creature’ washes ashore in Indonesia, turns water red

A giant mysterious creature’s carcass washed up on a beach in Indonesia, astonishing the people of the island nation and puzzling the marine scientists.

What Indonesian media reported as remains of a giant “squid” washed up on the shores of Seram Island in Maluku province earlier this week (watch the video above).

Marcus Chua of Singapore’s Lee Kong Chian Natural History Museum told Mashable

that there are no records of giant squids in the waters of Indonesia.

Chua speculates that the creature may be a whale of the baleen group, possibly a humpback. He added, however, that “in the advanced stage of decomposition it is not possible to determine whether that is a humpback whale or not.”
