NAB investigating cases against 71 political bigwigs

ISLAMABAD: The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has launched large-scale investigations against the 71 influential personalities across the country, ARY News reported.

According to the list acquired by ARY News, NAB has launched investigations in corruption cases registered against the 71 important personalities, including former prime ministers, chief ministers and ministers, across the country.

In Sindh, NAB is investigating against Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah, former minister for Ports and Shipping Babar Khan Ghauri, former advisor to prime minister for ministry of Oil and Natural Resources Asim Hussain, Speaker Sindh Assembly Agha Siraj Durrani, Home Minister Sindh Suhail Anwar Sial, Jam Khan Shoro and others.

In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the anti-corruption watchdog agency is investigating against 19 important politicians including Minister for Defence Pervez Khattak, Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz provincial president Amir Muqam, Arbab Alamgir Khan, former Chief Minister of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Akram Khan Durrani and others.

The NAB is probing corruption cases against 20 influential personalities in Punjab including Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) supreme Nawaz Sharif, former Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz, Capt (R) Mohammad Safdar, former Federal Minister for Capital Administration and Development (CDA) Tariq Fazal Chaudhry and others.

Whereas nine corruption cases are being investigated by the anti-corruption bureau in Balochistan.

NAB have launched instigation against former Chief Minister Balochistan Sanaullah Khan Zehri, Muhammad Aslam Khan Raisani and others.

It is pertinent to note here that earlier this month, NAB announced that during the last one year, from October 2017 to October 2018,  has received 44315 complaints, authorized 1713 complaint verifications, 877 inquiries and 227 investigations, arrested 503 accused persons and recovered Rs2580million from corrupt elements and deposited in the national exchequer.
