Court grants 14-day remand of Balochistan Finance Secretary to NAB

According to details, Mushtaq Ahmad Raisani was produced in handcuffs before Judicial Magistrate-I on Saturday morning under strict security. NAB prosecutors pleaded to the court for 14-day remand of the accused and also disclosed that national as well as foreign currency was seized from the suspect. The prosecutors also revealed in the court that gold as well as important documents were also confiscated from Mushtaq Raisani.

NAB prosecutors said that they had to interrogate the suspect with regard to other departments hence they required time.  The judge questioned the suspect regarding his health, to which he responded by stating that he did have health complications. The judge directed NAB authorities to provide the suspect proper medical facilities in case he required.

The judge then approved the NAB prosecutor’s request and granted the 14-day remand of Raisani.

NAB officials raided the house of Raisani and recovered bundles of notes in local and foreign currency worth Rs 630 million. The bundles of notes – from Pakistani rupee to US dollar – were stuffed in large bags, cardboard and plastic boxes.

The corruption treasure also included prize bonds and a fairly large quantity of gold.
