NAB recommends interior ministry to place Khaqan Abbasi’s name on ECL

ISLAMABAD: The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has recommended the interior ministry to place former prime minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi’s name on the Exit Control List (ECL), citing sources, ARY News reported on Tuesday.

The bureau has penned a letter to the interior ministry, requesting to place Abbasi’s name on the ECL due to ongoing probe against him into liquefied petroleum gas (LNG) contract award scandal.

NAB is probing a case instituted against Abbasi in 2015 for allegedly awarding a LNG import contract at exorbitant rates, which caused a potential $2 billion loss to the national exchequer.

Earlier today, Shahid Khaqan Abbasi had appeared before the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) in liquefied natural gas (LNG) import scam.

The team led by NAB’s Combined Investigation Team Malik Zubair quizzed the former prime minister in the scandal.

Sources privy to the development, said the Abbasi failed to bring the required documents in the case along with him.

“Need some time to hand over the documents”, Khaqan was quoted as saying to the NAB investigation team.

Minister for Railways Sheikh Rasheed has also submitted important documents in the NAB office against Shahid Khaqan Abbasi, last week.
