NAB devises strategy to arrest Nawaz, Maryam on 13th

RAWALPINDI: The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) on Monday said it had devised a strategy to arrest former prime minister Nawaz Sharif and his daughter Maryam Nawaz who have been convicted in Avenfield case, ARY News reported.

A meeting of NAB officials in the accountability institution’s headquarters in Islamabad deliberated on forming four teams each comprising six to seven officials to arrest the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leaders who are set to return on Friday (July 13).

Two teams will be stationed at Islamabad airport and two others at Lahore airport. Police’s help will also be sought in this regard.

Each of the NAB teams will include one director and one deputy director. Viewing security threat, armoured vehicle will also be used by the teams.

The forum decided to transfer both the accused to Islamabad upon their landing at Lahore airport.

It should be mentioned that Nawaz Sharif was sentenced to ten years in prison in the Avenfield reference case, while Maryam Safdar was sentenced to seven years and Safdar was given one year imprisonment.

Safdar has been transferred to Adiala jail.

While talking to media in London on Saturday, Maryam Nawaz had announced that she and her father did not fear arrest and would return to Pakistan on Friday.

They have been currently staying in London for the last few weeks to look after ailing Kulsoom Nawaz.
