ISLAMABAD: The National Database and Registration Authority (Nadra) on Sunday denied the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) allegation that “sensitive information” was shared with the Pakistan Muslim League-N (PML-N).
Terming the allegations as fabricated and baseless, the Nadra spokesman said no data was provided to any political party. The authority has a limited role in conducting elections, it added.
“Nadra has not given data to any political party, whatsoever. The organisation is only providing technical assistance to the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) in accordance with the law and the Constitution,” he said.

The statement came after reports emerged that Chairman Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Imran Khan had decided to file a petition against the chairman National Database and Registration Authority (Nadra) for allegedly leaking crucial information to the former ruling political party as a part of the pre-poll rigging bid.
Earlier, the PTI had accused the head of the Nadra of sharing sensitive information with the PML-N to help it influence the elections.
The PTI had demanded from the interim government to remove Chairman Nadra Usman Mobin to ensure free and fair general elections across the country.
“With Mobin as the Nadra chief fair and free elections are impossible,” the PTI chief has reportedly said about the chairman who was appointed by the PML-N government.
Mobin was reappointed on the top post for three years in February this year after his tenure ended.
