Nawaz reaches earthquake-hit Shangla

Information Minister Pervaiz Rashid, Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Sardar Mehtab Ahmed and Chairman NDMA Asghar Nawaz were accompanied with the prime minister.

Earlier, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif chaired a meeting in Islamabad to finalize a plan to tackle the situation in the wake of Monday’s earthquake in the country.

Chairman National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) Major General Asghar Nawaz briefed the meeting about the relief measures taken as quick response to the earthquake.

Army Chief General Raheel Sharif apprised the meeting about the relief measures taken by Pakistan Army in the earthquake-hit areas. He mentioned that troops had been mobilized for carrying out relief and rescue operations in the earthquake-affected areas while all the Combined Military Hospitals have been put on high alert.

The Prime Minister has already directed all federal civil military and provincial agencies to declare immediate alert and mobilize all resources to ensure security of people affected by the strong earthquake.

A Crisis Management Cell has been established at the PM House to coordinate with all federal civil, military, and provincial agencies for damage assessment, rescue, relief and recovery operations.

The meeting was attended by Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Sardar Mehtab Ahmad and federal ministers Chaudhry Nisar Ali, Ishaq Dar and Pervaiz Rashid.
