Answering a question in ARY News talk show ‘Off the Record’, PTI’s economic guru claimed that neither Ishaq Dar, Abid Sher Ali, Khwaja Asif nor Khaqan Abbasi are to be blamed for the petrol crisis, rather the only person to be held ‘responsible’ is Prime Minister of Pakistan Mian Nawaz Sharif.
Citing the reason, Umar said that the whole crisis is affected by receivables by Independent Power Producers (IPP) and the sad fact is that all 14 companies involved in generation, transmission and distribution have interim Managing Directors for last one and a half year.
Asad claimed
that even Pakistan State Oil (PSO) is run by an ad-hoc incharge and people running the office temporarily cannot plan for future. He added that the PM has the authority to appoint permanent office bearers in the companies.
PTI’s MNA showed 16 different Letters of Credit (LCs) proving that PSO has defaulted on payments forcing its suppliers to block fuel supplies.
It must be noted that Pakistan is facing a major oil crisis that has hit the country’s transport industry and general commuters hard, literally bringing the nation to a standstill.
