ISLAMABAD: Former prime minister Nawaz Sharif, who is currently on six-week bail on medical grounds, expressed desire for his treatment in United Kingdom (UK), ARY News reported on Thursday.
Nawaz Sharif has filed a 33-page review petition in the Supreme Court (SC), seeking seek permission for his treatment abroad.
The petition stated that the apex court had approved conditional bail to Sharif for six weeks on March 26 on medical grounds, which restricted him to leave the country.
The apex court was pleaded to review the decision regarding the limitation of medical treatment to Sharif inside Pakistan. Sharif’s treatment was only possible through the doctor who previously treated him in United Kingdom (UK), it added.
It was stated that the petitioner was asked to move to high court for another extension in bail but it was not made a part of written order released by the top court.
Nawaz Sharif’s health recovery was impossible in six weeks and he was still facing risks as per advice given by the medical experts citing his cardiac and kidneys’ diseases, the petition said.
The disqualified prime minister had underwent medical tests at Sharif Medical City (SMC) for several times, which were carried out by his personal physician and other medical experts.

On April 15, Dr Adnan, while talking to newsmen after the examination of Sharif, had termed heart problem, a serious threat to former prime minister’s life. He will have to undergo for another bypass surgery, if angioplasty was not done, he continued.
Dr Adnan further apprised media that angina pain can cause heart attack to the patient at any time, decision regarding admitting Nawaz Sharif in the hospital will be taken later after examining the reports.
To a query, Sharif’s personal physician had contended that decision to get Nawaz Sharif treated from abroad not taken yet.

On March 30, former information minister Fawad Chaudhry had advised former prime minister Nawaz Sharif to enter into a plea bargain with the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) to avoid his imprisonment in Al-Azizia corruption reference.
Taking to Twitter, he had said Sharif has not been hospitalised within four days of his release from Kot Lakhpat Jail on a six-week-long bail. He questioned if the motive behind the Pakistan Muslim League – Nawaz (PML-N) supreme leader’s ailment was to get out of prison and questioned whether he is waiting for the last week of the bail period to fall ill.
Chaudhry said he advised Sharif to opt for plea bargain with the bureau. “This is not Hussain or Hassan’s money but yours. This nation gave you respect [by electing you] three times, return their wealth.”
The Supreme Court had granted erstwhile prime minister Nawaz Sharif bail for six weeks on medical grounds on March 26 against surety bonds amounting to Rs 5 million each.
