According to details, the rates have been revised after the subsidy provided by the water and power ministry was withdrawn leading to an increase in the per unit cost of electricity for the consumers of Karachi based power supply company.
The cost of consumers using 201-300 units of electricity will be increased by Rs. 2.09 per united while the tariffs for customers availing 300-700 units of electricity will be increased by Rs. 3.67 per unit.
It was also stated that Commercial and industrial tariff for K-Electric consumers will remain unchanged.
Nepra stated that the change in subsidy was made to maintain uniform tariff in the country and to protect the interest of the consumer.
It should be mentioned that Nepra has hiked the power rates despite the prolonged power outages in the metropolis.
