BANNU: A new polio case emerged from Frontier Region (FR) Bannu, taking the total number of such cases to 68 in the country, ARY News reported Friday.
The case was detected in a seven-month-old baby in Jani Khel, area of Bannu. According to prime minister polio cell, the affected child was not administered polio drops at the required stage.
It said a total of 53 cases of polio had been reported in Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA) this year, while the number of cases reported from North Waziristan stood at 44, followed by South Waziristan (5) and Khyber Agency and FR Bannu two each.
Recently, the World Health Organisation (WHO) imposed travel
restrictions on Pakistan, bounding would-be travelers to obtain polio vaccination certificate prior to travelling.
