KARACHI: On eve of New Year, Sindh Home Minister Sohail Anwar Sial urged residents of the city to hold the New Year celebrations in a deliberate way to avoid traffic congestion as this year all recreational points of the megapolis including Sea View would be opened to public.
Paying a surprise visit to upscale areas of Defence and Clifton to review the security measures late Saturday night, Sial said he ordered removal of the containers, placed roads leading to Sea View, after receiving complaints from the residents.
“No hurdles will be erected for commuters on coming New Year night,” he said while urging the residents to hold the celebrations in a cautious manner.
However, he said police have been advised to take prompt action against anyone found indulged in aerial firing, one-wheeling or riding motorcycles without silencers.
Sial said he would personally monitor all roads leading to Sea View.
In response to a question, the home minister said he would celebrate arrival of the New Year with Karachiites on public places.
