Nikah khuwan, attendees arrested in Hindu sisters alleged abduction case

GHOTKI: Police arrested a man who is suspected to have assisted in the Nikkah of two Hindu sisters and attendees in a case related to alleged abduction and forcefully conversion to Islam, ARY News reported on Monday.

The two sisters had gone missing from Hafiz Salman village near Daharki few days back. Later, a video clip surfaced in which they can be heard saying that neither has anyone abducted them nor held them hostage as they left their home out of their own will and embraced Islam without any duress.

The deputy commissioner and Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Farrukh Lanjhar visited the family of the two girls to apprise them about the progress into the matter.

“Some people, including the nikah khuwan and attendees, have been arrested based on initial reports”, the SSP contented.

On Sunday, Prime Minister Imran Khan had directed Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar to immediately look into reports that two Hindu girls abducted from Ghotki district had been moved to Rahim Yar Khan after their forced conversion and underage marriages.

The heirs and relatives had also held a protest demonstration on National Highway for the recovery of the girls.

The protesters, carrying placards and banners, were chanting slogans against the police for not taking firm action and were demanding immediate recovery of the girls and arrest of the accused.
