Nisar Khuhro’s nomination forms rejected for PS-11 Larkana

KARACHI: Pakistan Peoples Party leader Nisar Ahmed Khuhro suffered a setback as his nomination forms were rejected preventing him from contesting the forthcoming general elections.

The PPP Sindh President was contesting from PS-11 Larkana, and the returning officer had initially accepted his nomination forms.

However, his opponent from the Grand Democratic Alliance (GDA) and Peoples Workers Party leader Moazzam Abbasi had challenged the acceptance of his nomination papers in the election tribunal.

Khuhro was alleged to have concealed details about his family and his family. An appellate election tribunal on Wednesday ultimately rejected his nomination papers.

Khuhro’s nomination papers were rejected because he listed two wives and four children as his dependents instead of three wives. He also did not mention his agricultural land in his nomination papers.

Khuhro has said that he will approach the Sindh High Court and will file an appeal against the decision of the tribunal. He said that he did not conceal anything in his nomination papers, and hoped that justice will be done.

However, his opponent has also vowed to challenge him in court making it unlikely to compete in the elections. His daughter and PPP Larkana district general secretary Khair Muhammad Shaikh have submitted forms as his covering candidates.
