According to Interior Ministry, the execution orders have been suspended in respect of the holy month of Ramazan.
Sources said that the execution of the convicts, whose death warrants have been already been issued, will be carried out before and after the month.

The Interior Ministry’s announcement comes a couple of days after severe criticism of the executions by the European Union. This was followed by a response on June 12 by the Interior Minister who said that the EU had its own laws and Constitution and that it should respect Pakistan’s which allowed for capital punishment.
