Pakistan ‘befittingly’ responded to India’s ceasefire violation : DG ISPR

ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Army on Saturday clarified that India should not be under any illusion that it can invade its territory because the forces know how to protect every inch of Pakistan.

Speaking to journalists in Bhimber sector of Azad Jammu and Kashmir, Director General (DG) Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) Lieutenant General Asim Bajwa said Pakistan Army caused heavy casualties on the Indian side of the border when the forces retaliated cross-border firing by Indian forces, which killed two Pakistani soldiers.

Bajwa said the military responded “befittingly” to Indian firing across the Line of Control (LoC) and added, only to support false claims of surgical strikes, India was hiding its losses.

Pakistan’s armed forces have always defended the country may it be internal and or external aggression and “We will do everything when it comes to guarding our borders,” said the DG ISPR.

“Any misadventure by our adversary will meet the most befitting response from Pakistan that it will not dare again,” said Bajwa.

Pakistan, India again exchange fresh fire

Amid tension in the region, Pakistan and India exchanged fresh fire across the Kashmir border on Saturday.

The skirmish came two days after India claimed it had carried out “surgical strikes” across the LoC, the de facto border in the disputed territory, on what it called “terrorist” targets several kilometres (miles) inside Pakistan-controlled Kashmir.

However, Pakistan said two of its soldiers had been killed and nine more wounded in what it described as small arms fire, dismissing the talk of surgical strikes as an absolute ‘illusion’ strategy to whip up ‘media hype’.

Tensions between the two arch rivals have been boiling since the Indian government accused Pakistan of an assault on an army base in Kashmir last month that killed 18 soldiers.
