No plans for Nawaz-Modi meeting in New York: FO

During the weekly press briefing on Thursday, the Spokesperson of the Foreign Office (FO), Tasneem Aslam rejected the chances of a meeting between PM Nawaz Sharif and US President Barrack Obama in the United States (US). She also clarified that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has not made any request in connection to Premier Nawaz Sharif’s meeting with his Indian counterpart, during the UN General Assembly session in New York.

Aslam said that the sole purpose of Pakistan PM’s visit to the United States (US) is to attend meeting of the UN General Assembly.

Speaking about the visit of the Chinese President to Pakistan, the FO Spokesperson mentioned that President Xi Jinping’s visit was postponed, not cancelled and he will shortly arrive here.

Commenting on US-led airstrikes against ISIS, Tasneem Aslam said that Pakistan is standing with the international fraternity on the issue.

Moreover, she once again declared the US drone attacks within the Pakistani territories as a violation of human rights and international laws.
