Non-filers of income tax return get ready for more tax: Dar

“Land will be shrunk for the people not coming under tax system,” the finance minister warned while speaking at pre-budget seminar in Islamabad.

He said Federal Board of Revenue was set to achieve revenue target of Rs3, 100 billion the following year.

The minister said a number of measures were taken during these years to expand tax net.

He said one-third NROs were withdrawn during first year of the incumbent government, one-third during current year and the remaining would be withdrawn during next budget, Radio Pakistan reported.

“Fiscal deficit, which stood at 8.8% of the GDP in 2013, has been brought down to 4.3% this year,” he said.

The minister said the government was pursuing a policy of three Es, including economy, energy and extremism, to build strong foundations for national progress and development.

He invited all the political parties to give their inputs for preparing a concrete roadmap for strengthening economy.

He said economy should not be politicized, and stressed for reaching a charter of economy in the line of charter of democracy.

Ishaq Dar said the government believed in consultations, and all the positive suggestions will be included in the budgetary proposals.
