Noorul Haq Qadri urges for promotion of unity, harmony

ISLAMABAD: Minister for Religious Affairs and Inter-faith Harmony Noorul Haq Qadri on Thursday urged religious scholars to play their role for promoting unity and harmony in the society, Radio Pakistan reported.

This he said while speaking in a certificates distribution ceremony of Dawah Academy in the federal capital, today

He underlined the need of a coherent training system for betterment of the society.

Qadri also emphasized the need for refraining from the way of violence and hatred to achieve the goal of prosperity and tranquility.

Noorul Haq Qadri said clerics should help people in resolution of the issues being faced by them, in the light of true teachings of Islam. “Ulema have a role to play for maintaining lasting peace and protection of the homeland”, he continued.

He said all the schools of thought should spread the Islamic teachings with wisdom and good advice.

Earlier, Qadri had said religious minorities were enjoying complete freedom  in the country as Islam preaches respect and tolerance towards all other religions.

Speaking at a programme, Qadri said Pakistan was a home to all those living in the country. “We are for Pakistan and Pakistan is for us,” he added. He had made this statement in connection to Holi celebrations by the Hindu community in the country.
