97-year-old woman to contest polls against Imran Khan

BANNU: Dressed in an old white kameez shalwar, Hazrat Bibi, a 97-year-old woman, on Monday submitted nomination papers for NA-35 constituency for upcoming general elections.

Hazrat Bibi’s move means she will be contesting elections against Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chief Imran Khan.

The senior citizen, who also filed nomination papers for PK-89, has dared to contest against political heavy weights five times in the past.

According to ARY News correspondent Ehsanullah Khattak, the woman, a peasant by profession, is quite enthusiastic about contesting polls and says that she will do a door-to-door campaign despite having limited resources.

The 97-year-old woman has once won a UC-level election during local body polls in the past.
