ISLAMABAD: The Opposition on Friday staged a walkout in the National Assembly (NA) once again, to protest over non-issuance of a production order for Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz MNA Khawaja Saad Rafique.
Following the opposition’s walkout, the assembly session was adjourned till Monday.
As the assembly session went underway, incarcerated Leader of Opposition in NA Shehbaz Sharif, who also attends NA sessions on production orders, pleaded the Speaker to issue the same for his detained party member.
Pakistan Peoples Party lawmaker Raja Pervaiz Ashraf also shared concerns over the delay in issuance of production order for Rafique to attend the session. He expressed hopes that the production orders for the former railways minister would be issued soon.
To this, NA speaker Asad Qaiser said that he would consult with law experts on the matter.
The Opposition had walked out of the assembly yesterday as well, owing to the very reason.
The National Accountability Bureau arrested Khawaja Saad Rafique and his brother Salman Rafique after the Lahore High Court dismissed their bail pleas in the Paragon housing society scam on December 11.
Khawaja Saad Rafique is in NAB’s custody on 10-day physical remand. The PML-N leader had said he was being meted out injustice and repression. “Revenge is being taken in the name of accountability,” he claimed.
