Over 350 rounded up in countrywide combing operations

SWABI: The security forces stepped up targeted operations and snap checking as part of the ongoing combing operations across the country and arrested more than 350 suspects on late Sunday, ARY News reported.

The law enforcers apprehended at 244 suspects – most in any city – during a search operation in Swabi.

The raids and targeted operations were conducted as part of the ongoing countrywide combing operations.


What is combing operation?

The combing operations are aimed at tracking the terrorists, their facilitators, accomplices and sleeper cells in different parts of the country and neutralising them. These operations also encompass granting more powers to civilian law enforcement agencies for meaningful action against terror suspects.


The security forces in Mianwali arrested 67 suspects on charges of their involvement in terror activities. In Islamabad, several Afghan nationals were taken into custody alongside other suspects. Investigation against them is currently underway.

Similarly, 17 Afghan nationals were nabbed from Nankana Sahib, 11 from Patoki for their suspected involvement in terror activities.

In another operation, 17 were arrested from Bannu who were taken to undisclosed location for interrogation. Police in Quetta recovered weapons from 35 Afghan immigrants who were arrested on late Sunday.
