PA resolution wants govt to disclose conditions of IMF package

LAHORE: A resolution was submitted to the Punjab Assembly demanding the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government to disclose details of a bailout package it has been negotiating with the International Monetary Fund (IMF).

Pakistan Muslim League – Nawaz (PML-N) legislator Hina Pervaiz Butt submitted the resolution to the provincial legislature’s secretariat, calling upon the federal government to unveil conditions under which it is obtaining a bailout package from the Fund.

She stated in her resolution that the government’s failed economic policies have weakened the country’s economy, adding apart from taking loans from foreign countries, the government has done nothing within eight months of its coming to power.

The MPA said all the development projects launched by the previous PML-N government were suffering delays as work on the Orangi Line Metro Train and China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) project was being carried out at a snail’s pace.

The Diamer Basha dam project was also in doldrums, she said, demanded that all the previous government’s projects be completed and that the opposition be taken into confidence over the IMF package.
