ISLAMABAD: A military-level talks between Pakistan and Afghanistan were held today at General Headquarters in Rawalpindi, ARY News reported.
An 8-member Afghan military delegation led by Director General Military Operation (DGMO) Major General Afzal Aman, accompanied by officials of the Afghan National Security Council (NSC), Afghan military intelligence and Afghan border police visited the GHQ.
According to ISPR – the public affairs wing of military – both the countries discussed issues of cross-border shelling. DGMO Pakistan Army Major General Aamer Riaz represented the Pakistan’s side.
A detailed briefing was given on border coordination mechanism. An issue regarding hideouts of militants in Kunar and Nuristan was also raised.
Pakistan told Afghanistan that it only resorts to firing in self-defence, after its check-posts are physically attacked. DGO Pakistan army clarified that Pakistan never provoked indiscriminate firing along the border.
