Pakistan committed to Afghan peace and stability, Janjua says

ISLAMABAD: National Security Adviser Nasser Khan Janjua on Wednesday reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to peace and stability in war-torn Afghanistan. 

Addressing Islamabad International Counter Terrorism Forum here, he said the country has always extended a helping hand to the neighboring country.

He said Pakistan respects the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Afghanistan, adding that both countries have rendered great sacrifices in the war on terrorism.

Janjua said Pakistan

rendered immense sacrifices in the fight against terrorism, but the international community did not acknowledge them and instead allegations were being leveled against the country for allegedly backing militants.

He said world powers left Pakistan to fend for itself after the Soviet-Afghan war.

The security adviser said Islamabad backed the United States to fight Taliban militants and in retaliation, the Taliban carried out attacks in the country.
