Pakistan, China are iron brothers, says FM Qureshi

ISLAMABAD: Foreign Minister (FM) Shah Mehmood Qureshi on Tuesday recognized the relation between Pakistan and China as ‘iron brothers’ in the wake of a successful visit of Pakistani delegation to its all-whether ally country.

The foreign minister shared the feedback of the visit on Twitter, saying, “Feeling very confident after returning from a productive visit to China led by PM Imran Khan.”

Calling China and Pakistan ‘iron brothers’, FM Qureshi said, “together we will climb the highest mountains.Collaboration and mutually beneficial policies will pave the way forward for future generations.”

Prime Minister Imran Khan, along with his high level delegation, returned to Pakistan on Tuesday concluding an official visit to China, in which both the countries inked several cooperation agreements and memorandum of understandings.

During his address at the Pakistan Trade and Investment Conference 2018 in Shanghai, PM Khan said Pakistan would like to follow the model of China in poverty alleviation and eradication of corruption to put the country on the path of progress and development.

Soon after the homecoming of Pakistani mission, FM Qureshi held a meeting with the ambassador of European Union (EU) to Pakistan along with his delegation, spokesperson of Foreign Office Dr. Faisal reported.

Both sides discussed the matters related to fostering bilateral ties, while the Foreign Minister expressed his satisfaction over the upward trajectory of positive relations with the EU.

Underscoring the significance of EU’s Generalised scheme of preferences (GSP), the Minister said that Pakistan will make the most of it.

The EU envoy assured his Pakistani counterpart of complete cooperation and support in the areas of mutual interest.
