Pakistan demands release of 518 citizens in Indian jails

Foreign ministry spokesman said Pakistani High Commission in India has handed over a list of 518 Pakistanis to the Indian government under the Consular Agreement signed between the two countries in May 2008. 463 out of 518 citizens are fishermen.

This should be noted that hundreds of citizens of Pakistan are imprisoned in jails of India and visa versa. Most of the prisoners are fishermen who entered into other country’s limits because of absence of boundary line and maritime security personnel arrest them for entering their territory.

It is pertinent here to mention that Pakistan has released more Indian fishermen than India. On the other hand, India would find excuses to release the innocent fishermen calling them ISI agent.
